Newcastle Building Society is committed to providing a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of technology or ability.

We are actively working to increase the accessibility and usability of our website and in doing so adhere to many of the available standards and guidelines.

Standards & Guidelines

This website endeavours to conform to level Double-A of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0.

These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities. Conformance with these guidelines will help make the web more user friendly for all people.

This site has been built using code compliant with W3C standards for HTML and CSS. The site displays correctly in current browsers and using standards compliant HTML/CSS code means any future browsers will also display it correctly.

Resizing the text

To increase the text size:

  • Internet Explorer: View > Text size
  • Firefox: View > Text size
  • Opera: File > Preferences > Fonts > Minimum font size (pixels)

Alternatively, you can zoom in/out by scrolling with the wheel of your mouse whilst holding down the control key.

Printer Friendly

Our site has been built to be printer friendly.

Browser Compatibility

Our site is tested on Internet Explorer and Firefox browser platforms. It should also compatible with a number of other browsers offered by other companies.

Mobility Difficulties

We already have over 30 branches with level access and regularly review the design and layout of our branches so that access is made as easy as possible.

Deaf and hearing impaired

All our offices have the Hearing loop facility installed and some offer a portable mini loop system which can be used in interview areas for extra privacy.

Blind / Visually Impaired Members

All our literature is available in large print or CD on request. If you would prefer to receive regular communications, for example mortgage or investment interest statements in large print or CD please contact us on 0345 734 4345 for further information.
