Building Improvement Grant Recipient

Springfield Community Association receives our first Building Improvement Grant

We are pleased to announce, after a fantastic response to the launch of our new Building Improvement Grants (BIGs) that our chosen grant recipient for 2018 is Springfield Community Association (North Tyneside) Ltd.

Springfield Community Association is a volunteer led charity based in Forest Hall, North Tyneside, established using money raised by the local community. Springfield will be using the BIG grant of £49,110 to transform their community space through a number of refurbishments, which will include:

  • Relocating the main entrance to provide a multi-use social space that can be used as a cafĂ©

  • Redesigning the kitchen

  • Improving existing corridor access

  • Ladies and gents toilet refurbishment

  • Creation of an accessible toilet and baby changing facility

The grant will help to provide a brand-new accessible community facility with many social and economic benefits for existing and new service-users and partners.

Building Improvement Grants (BIGs) provide up to £50,000 for community groups or charities in the North East and Cumbria to make improvements to their community buildings. This might include: construction, expansion, renovation or replacement of an existing facility or facilities.

This is what Springfield Community Associations parent and toddler group had to say about the BIG improvement.
