Cheque handover for charity work Newcastle Building Society's Carlisle Street branch is celebrating after raising £1,300 for its chosen Charity of the Year. The branch has held events throughout the year including cake sales and tombola's in order to raise vital funds for the local good cause. Customers attended the official handover of the cheque while enjoying mince pies and a festive drink. The Glenmore Trust is a local not for profit organisation that works with adults with learning disabilities and mental health conditions. Barry Ridley, Branch Manager said: "It's been great fun supporting the charity and raising funds but I couldn't have done it without my great team who were 100% behind the cause. "As well as this, our customers have been extremely generous. We didn't plan to raise as much as this – we hoped – so to actually be able to hand over this cash is a great achievement. "We hope to somehow maintain the relationship with the charity in the future as it's a very worthwhile cause." Buying my first homeFamily Fun at our Cramlington Branch Official Re-Opening!
