Coronavirus and Our Branches

We are committed to keeping branches open as long as it is safe to do so for our customers and colleagues, and we continue to follow Public Health England and government guidance.

As per government guidelines we provide a critical and essential service.

Throughout the COVID-19 outbreak our main priority has been, and remains to be, the safety and wellbeing of our customers, colleagues and the communities we’re in.

How we operate and provide our services, particularly throughout our branch network, has been adapted in line with official guidance, which is continuing to change.

We undertake a range of measures to keep our customers and colleagues safe.

Visiting our branches

We are doing doing everything possible to maintain full service, including extending our opening hours back to more normal hours including Saturdays.

Please visit our Branch Finder for a list of our branches and up-to-date business hours.

At times we may still see challenges caused by COVID-19, including reduced staffing due to colleague isolation requirements. Please always call ahead if travelling any distance or making a special trip.

We apologise for any inconvenience changes may cause our customers; our aim is to protect everyone by maintaining a safe environment.

What can I do in branch?

We can help you with:

  • Cash and cheque deposits
  • Cash and cheque withdrawals
  • Passbook updates
  • Questions about your account activity
  • Changes to an existing account
  • Transferring funds to your bank account

You can open a new account online: view our range of savings products.  You can also call us on 0345 734 4345 (lines open 8:00am - 6:00pm, Monday to Friday).

If you’d like to open a new account in-branch, you may need to arrange an appointment. Before visiting please call ahead: see our Branch Finder for the contact details of your nearest branch.

Currently, we continue to have limited private meeting spaces in branch, availability of some additional seating and use of branch refreshment and toilet facilities. However, our branch colleagues will do everything possible to help you make changes to, or open new, accounts. This may include calling you at home in some instances.

We are continuing to encourage customers to wear face masks/coverings, to sanitise hands on entry and exit, and to maintain distance from other customers and our colleagues. All colleagues continue to wear face masks/coverings in our branches.

Newcastle Financial Advisers

For customers’ financial advice needs, Newcastle Financial Advisers will be available in line with the opening times of the branch in which they are based.

In the first instance, you should contact the Newcastle Financial Advisers support team on 0345 600 4330 from 9am – 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Stay safe and well, and as always, thanks for your understanding.
