How to Make Your Home Cosy for the Winter?

Winter can often feel dreary and dark, the days are getting shorter and the air is getting colder. To help you enjoy the winter months, here are some easy ways to cosy up your home.

Create a reading spot

As the dark nights draw in, it is easy to fall into a routine of binge watching TV; so create an alternative way to spend your down time. Find a comfortable space where you can curl up with your favourite book, tablet or magazine. You will need cushions, a blanket, a good reading light and most importantly a hot cup of tea (or whatever it is you like to drink). The perfect spot to cosy up on a winter’s night.

Low light

Create a warm ambience with light in your home. Light up your favourite candles to create a warm glow, put your lamps on and snuggle up.

If you are lucky enough to have a fireplace, then make the most of it in the winter months by accessorising it with fairy lights, candles or other homely accessories. If you are even luckier, you will have a wood burning stove. Putting the fire on is by far one of the best ways to make your home comfortable and snug.

Blankets and cushions

Drape a throw over your sofa and add cushions; this can change the look of your living room to make it feel more homely. But the addition of the throw is also extremely practical to snuggle up with when you feel chilly. However, if the throw draped sofa look isn’t for you, keep extra blankets handy in your favourite chill out spots.
