Three graduates have taken their first steps onto the career ladder after successfully gaining places on the graduate management training programme.

We are delighted to welcome Oliver Earl, Ellen Dawson and Ryan Snowdon Scott to Newcastle Building Society, and are excited to see their development over the coming months. The 18 month placements offer the graduates the opportunity to experience working in different areas within specific departments across the society.

Oliver, Business with Economics graduate from Northumbria University has joined Operations Management. “So far the Graduate Scheme has allowed me to meet people from a variety of different departments, gain an insight into current and future projects. As well as, meeting clients and undergoing key learning courses.”

Liverpool John Moores University graduate, Ellen studied Accounting and Finance and is now working in the Society’s Finance department. “So far, The Newcastle Building Society Graduate Management programme has given me the opportunity to gain a wide insight into the work of the society’s Finance department, as I am involved with work from multiple teams within the function. The role also gives me the freedom to manage my own time, and to conduct my own day, and I have found that I am always offered the support I need to learn and develop my knowledge if necessary. I have also been given the chance to tailor the programme to my individual interests where possible, allowing me to spend time with other areas of the society, which I think will help to aid my overall understanding of the work that I do.”

Business and Marketing Management graduate, Ryan studied at the University of Sunderland and has joined Product Development and Marketing. “I wanted a position that matched up to the areas that I most enjoyed, and the job description and scheme assessment showed that the Society's graduate scheme would very much meet my ambitions.”

"I'm already learning a lot about how all the different parts of the team come together to create a unified approach to the Society's marketing efforts, as well as getting a proper feel for the sorts of work that I think will suit my skills in the longer term.”
