How have you supported the local community/ charities?
I’ve supported various local good causes during my time with the Society. I’ve volunteered at the local community centre in Westerhope, initiated links with charities in West Denton and Newcastle City Centre, which are still going today and supported a number of different charities and good causes through volunteering.

What is involved in your role?
Communicating our Mortgage proposition to Mortgage Professionals across the UK through various meetings, road shows and seminars, whilst acting as a point of support for escalation cases that brokers may have. I am also classed as the Society’s eyes and ears on the ‘ground’ feeding back vital mortgage market information that I’ve collected during my engagements. This information is used by NBS to help support and adapt to the changing needs of the mortgage market.

What has been the most influential moment in your career?
Good question! I’ve always been presented with opportunities during my time here, but the moment which has influenced my career the most has to be my first management opportunity.  Although I had good knowledge of the Branch Network and what was needed to create a successful branch, I didn’t have any real management experience at that point. Karen Richardson (Branch Network Divisional Manager) believed in me and gave me a management role on a trial basis, supporting me throughout my time in this role, for which I am very grateful.

How has the Society helped you develop?
On a professional level I’ve been supported to continue my development by gaining professional qualifications in Mortgage Advice (CEMAP) and Insurance Advice (CERGI). I’ve also participated in the Management Development Programme gaining a qualification in leadership and management. On a personal level, I’ve met people who have become lifelong friends and I’ve always been encouraged by management to continuously develop my skills in order to progress my career.
