Managing Director - Newcastle Strategic Solutions

Phil joined Newcastle Building Society in 1987 as an Office Junior and over the next ten years progressed through the Branch and Head Office functions to become the Head of Customer Services.

In 2006 Phil was appointed as Customer Service Executive and is now the Managing Director of our wholly owned subsidiary, Newcastle Strategic Solutions Ltd.  Phil’s journey shows just how far a career with Newcastle Building Society can take you!

What is involved in your role?

As Managing Director of Newcastle Strategic Solutions , I am responsible for overseeing the business as a whole. This includes the strategy of the business, the day to day operations, the budgets, the profit and loss accounts and the relationships with our existing business clients as well as our new business clients

What’s your greatest achievement / rewarding experience here?

Playing an instrumental role in helping to build Newcastle Strategic Solutions. I am particularly proud of how it has grown and it is wonderful to be able to create new jobs as a result.

What would you say to someone that was thinking about a career with the Society?

Don’t hesitate. It is a great place to work and there are some wonderful opportunities if you are prepared to work hard and take them.

What’s your best career advice?

Never stop learning from the people you work with and work for. Recognise the things that they do well and seek to improve yourself as a result.
