That is why we joined with Citizens Advice Gateshead to create Helping Hand. Helping Hand is a support service for our members and colleagues. It gives you the chance to speak to a trained adviser and get help when you need it.

Citizens Advice Gateshead gives free and private advice on many things, such as: 

  • Benefits and Universal Credit

  • Housing problems

  • Debt and money worries

  • Relationship issues

  • Local support in your area

  • Problems at work or unfair treatment

Helping Hand

Newcastle Building Society funds a full-time expert at Citizens Advice Gateshead.  As a member-owned organisation, we’re here to support you when you need help most. You can get in touch by phone or email in a way that suits you.

  • Free and private advice by phone, email, or video.

  • Support for all customers and staff, no matter where you live.

  • Help with benefits and Universal Credit.

  • Help with budgeting and debt.

  • Help with housing and family issues.

  • Help finding emergency food banks.
