Spams, Scams and Security - Hartlepool event

Newcastle Building Society is jointly hosting a free ‘Spams, Scams and Security’ information event at The National Museum of the Royal Navy Hartlepool with Hartlepool Borough Council Trading Standards on Tuesday 22nd May. The ticket to the event will also give the bearer free entry to the museum which usually costs £8.

Local people are invited to attend one of two free sessions lasting an hour and a half, the morning session commencing at 11am and the afternoon one at 3pm, with presentations delivered by Cleveland Police, Victim Care and Advice Service, Hartlepool Trading Standards and a Dementia Friends Champion, giving important information on how to protect your money. People are asked to attend half an hour before the presentations start to enjoy free light refreshments and to allow them time to visit the information stalls which will also be at the event.

The sessions will cover a variety of topics, including fraud, bank account protection and cybercrime.

The Victim Care and Advice Service will outline fraud scenarios whilst Cleveland Police will be discussing cyber-crime, Trading Standards will be discussing how they can help the community and the introduction of “Timelock” as a way to protect your money in bank accounts.

The event will also provide a focus on other community assistance available, and will feature information stands from Hartlepool Hospice, Victim Care, Cleveland Police, Newcastle Building Society and the Alzheimer’s Society.
