If you’re just starting out and want the perfect place to grow, we are committed to developing your talents.

Our Early Talent Programme offers real work experience and live projects that will help you achieve your goals while earning above the Real Living Wage. Whether you join us through an apprenticeship, undergraduate placement or graduate programme, you’ll benefit from our unique coaching culture and will be supported by our dedicated People Development Team.  They provide a range of resources and face-to-face sessions as well as opportunities to enrol on management and leadership programmes.

You’ll be well supported by your line manager, our Early Talent Manager, your own personal mentor and a network of your peers, our Early Talent Community. As part of our community you will attend a series of Early Talent Events including a Welcome Day, where you’ll meet our Executive Team – including CEO Andrew Haigh, and our Early Talent Fresher’s Week.

Hear from Gemma, our Early Talent Manager.

Apprenticeships are an opportunity to earn while you learn and gain practical experience in one of our departments. Whether you have GCSEs, A Levels, BTECs or simply a can-do attitude – we can work with you to find the right opportunity. New intakes usually begin in September.

Apprentices who joined us from 2017 have received a promotion

Leah Rowe, Apprentice Solicitor

"Not only have I hugely grown in confidence, I have developed and learned so much with thanks to my amazing team. It’s been extremely rewarding receiving good feedback on my work while achieving good grades at university."

If you’re a graduate, we offer a permanent contract so that you can take time to develop to your full potential. We’ll enrol you on our Early Talent Programme before gradually settling you in to your own role.

Shannon, Graduate Management Trainee

"I have taken part in a variety of training programmes that have supported my learning and development and built my network. It’s really helped embed my knowledge by allowing me to understand the concepts in theory and how they play out in reality."

University placements

If you’re a second-year undergraduate, we offer 12 months' industry experience to accompany your course. You’ll work on live projects and contribute your thoughts and ideas to our growing business.

Jamie, Finance Placement

"My experience of the Society’s Early Talent Programme was fantastic, it has provided me with the platform to work across the Group in different areas – such as financial advice – which my role wouldn’t traditionally have done. I’ve also made what I consider ‘friends for life’ and it was a perfect place to start my career within the financial industry."
