Events to look forward to across the North East in 2018

Now that 2018 is well under way, keep your diary full of exciting things. Here in the North East we are spoilt with events taking place this year! 

Newcastle Film Festival

29th March – 1st April / Newcastle upon Tyne

Showcasing films from all genres from around the world, the Newcastle Film Festival will be a celebration of film. There will be events taking place across the city.

Gateshead International Jazz Festival

6th - 8th April / Sage Gateshead

Gateshead welcomes back some of the greatest jazz artists from around the world. Filling the four stages, includes headliners Ruby Turner, Maceo Parker and Norma Winstone.

Bishop Auckland Food Festival

21st – 22nd April / Town Hall, Bishop Auckland

One of the region’s biggest food events, Bishop Auckland Food festival offer a weekend full of delicious street food and artisan drinks.

Living North's Spring Fair

11th – 13th May / Newcastle Racecourse, High Gosforth Park

Enjoy a unique shopping experience at Living North’s Spring Fair; with quirky interiors, garden design, beautiful art and tasty treats.

Great Exhibition of the North

22nd June – 9th September

The Great Exhibition of the North will be one of the biggest events in England, celebrating the region's culture and economic legacy. The spectacular 80 day event will open with celebrations across the North East, including a massive 80m long water fountain which will feature in the River Tyne.

Newcastle Pride

20th – 22nd July / Newcastle upon Tyne

From a parade and fun fair to live music, Newcastle Pride is a fun filled weekend for all.

Lindisfarne Festival

30th August – 2nd September / Northumberland Coast

Set on the stunning Northumberland coast overlooking Holy Island, this independent music, creative arts and wellness festival offers the perfect end of summer blowout.

Great North Run

9th September / Newcastle upon Tyne to South Shields

Celebrating its 37th year in 2018, the Great North Run is a prominent date in the sporting calendar for both athletes and keen runners alike. The race is one of the biggest and brightest events and truly captures the North East’s culture.
