Penshaw Monument 

Penshaw, Houghton Le Spring, DH4 7EL

Wearside’s most beloved landmark, Penshaw Monument is a replica of the Temple of Hephaestus in Athens. The dominating monument offers magnificent views as far afield as the North Pennines and Durham.

‘The Lady of the North’ is the centrepiece of this 19-hectare park. A great place for a fun family walk, with 4 miles of paths around the human landform sculpture.

Rising Sun Country Park

An oasis of green and lake areas, Rising Sun Country Park showcases diverse wildlife; as well as offering scenic walks and grassland for the kids to play.

Durham Cathedral

Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art

Located on the Gateshead Quays, looking over the River Tyne; the Baltic has regular changing art exhibitions, and offers a fun day out for your little artists.
