As a member owned mutual, at Newcastle Building Society we aim to reflect the communities we serve and are committed to supporting the Armed Forces community as part of this.

We work to provide colleagues with an inclusive environment to work in, welcoming colleagues from a variety of social backgrounds and life experiences, encouraging diversity of thought and allowing colleagues to be themselves. Find out more here.

In 2019, we proudly signed the Armed Forces Covenant, achieving the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme Silver award in recognition of our commitment.

By making this pledge, we committed to support those who serve or have served in the Armed Forces, and their families – from offering flexibility in working hours and leave around deployment to colleagues with family in the forces and offering support to colleagues who choose to be members of the Reserve forces, to supporting cadet units in our local community.

Veteran Support Partnership

The Veteran Support Partnership is a group of organisations joining together to help eliminate barriers to opportunities and enable the Armed Forces community to reach their full potential.

Throughout 2021, they’ll be delivering three virtual events, each with a focus on one of their strategic principles – Support, Develop, Employ.

 Veteran Support Event 1 – 12th May 2021

This first event will focus on showcasing the support available to veterans and their families, with speakers focusing on different elements of support, including our Financial Crime Manager, Sarah Blythe, and Newcastle Financial Adviser*, Chris Carter.
